TearOff Today was built with an absolutists view on user privacy, tracking and data sovereignty. What this means to people that visit this site and use the app is that TearOff Today makes the choice to never track you, never harvest your data, and never use analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Amplitude or Matomo. In order to fully ensure user privacy and data sovereignty, TearOff Today made the concious decision to forego user accounts and cloud storage. There is no authentication scheme in the app nor any feature to sync your data to the cloud.
What We Do:
- We use your browsers storage for application data
- localStorage is used to store basic information on app options
- IndexedDB is used to store settings preferences and data for your task stack, notification schedule and custom recipes
- Service Worker Cache Storage for assets and offline capabilites
What We Don't Do:
- We don't use cookies at all. You can verify this by opening Dev Tools in your browser and checking
- We don't use analytics of any kind. People using this site are invisible to TearOff
- We don't use third-party analytics, ad networks, or tracking pixels.
- We don't use any sort of authentication scheme and do not offer cloud syncing
- We don't use server-side storage for anything
The One Exception: Cloudflare Infrastructure
The only third-party component involved is a Cloudflare challenge script.
- Why it's here: It is required strictly for security (DDoS protection and bot mitigation) to keep the app running.
- What it does: It runs a quick check in your browser to verify you are human.
- What we see: We only see the raw HTTP request logs (IP address, timestamp, and User-Agent) generated by your browser connecting to the server. We do not store, analyze, or sell these logs.
- Analytics Disabled: Cloudflare's Real User Monitoring (RUM) analytics are explicitly disabled. No performance or browsing data is sent to Cloudflare for analysis.
We collect zero data. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
